INTRODUCTORY NOTE

The year 2021 is ending and in it ended the lives of two important personalities, Malcolm Pines for Group Analysis and Anna Potamianou for Psychoanalysis. A minimal tribute, Necrology, for Malcolm Pines, by Nikos Lamnidis and In Memory of Anna Potamianou, by Katerina Miliou. Life contains death. Eros and Death from their mythological reference in Ancient Greek thought to the psychoanalytic one by Freud, as two impulses that run through and define the human psyche, continue to generate reflections and constructive conversations. Jason Maratou’s talk “Eros and Death contributes the major contributions to this conversation. Mixing and synthesis contributes to the continuation of life and evolution. Combinatorial therapy is a form of therapy that can, under certain conditions, synthesize the benefits of group and individual therapy, as Lena Telliani presents us in the first part of her paper, the literature review on Combinatorial Therapy. The creation of an Analytic Group always requires the Group Analyst to select and compose the members, of which it will be composed, in a way, as Fotini Psarogianni analyses, that will contain the anxieties and destructive forces, foster unity and lead to healing. And the matrix in group-analytic therapy as a dynamic whole is attempted, by Eftychia Yomela, to be aligned with contemporary neuropsychology and the new considerations around the function, space, time, speech and their importance in trauma resolution. The training of the Group Analyst is essential and at IOAF it starts with the Introductory Seminar, the sixth year of its running, which offers a wealth of experience and theoretical presentations, which are presented by its coordinator, Lena Teliani. The continuous study of the Group Analyst is also important, and that is why the working group for the publication of the bulletin recommends important books on Group Analysis. The new year is upon us!
