INTRODUCTORY NOTE

The pandemic seems to be more and better controlled, but it is not over. The phenomena in the analytical groups under the conditions of the pandemic are still being observed, processed, psychicized, as we did in the Study Group in a Greek-German dialogue, to which we were invited by the group analyst Fotini Tylkeridou, in order to exchange thoughts and reflections on phenomena in the clinical work of the analytical groups in Germany and Greece, at the time of the pandemic. It is presented by Katerina Miliou. Wars have been going on since the beginning of mankind and the latest war in Ukraine, unfortunately, is not the only one, neither in “our neighbourhood” nor in recent history and although we would hope it would be the last one and the IOAF condemns all wars, it seems that we need to delve even further into the social and psychic dynamics of wars and perhaps recall Freud’s writings in the book, which we propose in the book suggestions “Topical Observations on War and Death”. The deaths continue, Tom Ormay, a prominent exponent of modern group analysis and exponent of Foulkes’ principles died in February 2022. Katerina Miliou reminds us of his work and his book “The Social Nature of Persons” is recommended in the book recommendations. The adhesive forces of life continue. The continuation of Lena Teliani’s article “Combinatorial Therapy”, with its second part, clinical examples, has much to add to our knowledge of Combinatorial Therapy and its benefits, especially in specific pathologies and personality traits. The institution of Low Cost Group Analytic Psychotherapy at IOAF started in 2018, can offer a lot and has already provided a rich experience, which Nikos Lamnidis presents to us. The Introductory Seminar is organized for the year 2022-2023, its seventh year and will start in October 2022. Its new coordinator, Kostas Konstantopoulos, gives us the programme of the Seminar. And applications for participation will be open until the end of September. Until then, best wishes for a Good, Cool Summer!
